In the fourth quarter of 2023, the iOS platform in Africa saw notable activity among the top 5 food delivery services. Here’s a snapshot of their performance, based on data from Sensor Tower.
Glovo: Food Delivery and more had a strong quarter in terms of downloads and active users. Weekly downloads started at around 10.3K at the end of September and gradually increased, peaking at approximately 13.6K in the final week of December. Active users also showed a steady rise, starting from about 80K and reaching nearly 94K by the end of the quarter.
talabat: Food, grocery & more experienced a mixed trend in weekly downloads, beginning with 9.3K in late September, dipping to around 8K mid-October, and recovering to approximately 9.6K by the end of December. The app's active user numbers saw a slight decline from 146K to 140K over the quarter.
Uber Eats: Food Delivery maintained a relatively stable download rate, starting at 9K and ending at around 7.7K. Active users, however, exhibited a slight downward trend, beginning at approximately 137K and ending the quarter at around 128K.
Mr D - Groceries & Takeaway showed variability in downloads, starting at 7.3K in late September, experiencing fluctuations, and closing the quarter at around 5.2K. Active users remained relatively stable, starting at 60K and ending at around 55K.
Lastly, Bolt Food saw a gradual decrease in downloads, from 5.3K at the end of September to about 4.9K by December end. Active users also saw a slight decline, starting at approximately 64K and ending at around 60K.
